What is the machine called that the blood pressure cuff hooks up to in the ER?
What is the machine called that all of the equiment hooks up to in the ER, like the pulse oximeter and the BP cuff?
We call it "the monitor". Most of them are modular and the monitor just displays what the different modules measure.
They usually include electrocardiography, respiratory rate (from the ECG), NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure) and pulse oximetry and temperature. In the OR/ICU we can add modules for capnography, invasive pressures (arterial blood pressure, central venous pressure, PA pressures), anesthetic gas concentrations, train-of-four monitoring, cardiac output and more.
