advice on diabetes in dogs?
what type of food can we use jess was just diagnosed yesterday 18 02 09, also what not to feed.
High protein is best .Mixed with fresh Veggies. Low in fat. But it really depends what he will eat. Must be the same everyday , day in and day out. So that insulin dose is the same everyday. Its hard to check dogs blood sugar at home . Hard to find spot to get blood. Your vet sells diabetic dog food. Possibly at Grocery store or Farm store. I also gave my dog a multivitamin. According to size of dog. He was old when he got diabetes but lived 3 years more.
Good luck. By the way my dog never flinched when I gave him shots.It was a few years ago, so I forgot what Insulin I gave him.
