What are risk factors of brain aneurysms?
My dad had one at age 46 and subsequently died 6 weeks later of a heart attack. He was severely overweight, had hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Would those three factors have caused it or could it just have been a spontaneous thing.
Are aneurysms hereditary? I don't want to die at 46 too..
Hypertension is the biggest risk factor that I know of because the pressure on the blood vessels is what creates the weak spot that eventually ruptures. The higher the pressure, the greater the risk. Diabetes, obesity and heredity are also risk factors for heart attacks, so make sure that you see a doctor regularly and that if you develop any of these, you keep them well-controlled.
