I am seeing halos around lights, white splotchy vision?
It is only affecting the right eye and only when I wake up for a few hours and maybe a little before I go to bed. There is sometimes pain involved when moving my eye upward, this is rare. The other symptoms are general photophobia, halos around lights (close lights look like one large light), occasionally some redness in the white of the eye. For most of the day there are no symptoms at all and my vision is perfect. I do not wear contacts.
What could be the culprit causing the morning symptoms but having none later in the day? Sinus problem, diabetes, a cataract, blood pressure, glaucoma, any ideas?
Do cataracts ever cause pain and would the symptoms only be present in the morning hours?
Could the symptoms of CMV retinitis occur only in the morning hours and clear during the rest of the day?
Cataract causes no discomfort or redness...
(so it might be present, but wouldn't produce your symptoms: it can't produce *intermittent* haloes)
The "first suspects" from just your symptomes are dry eye, possibly associated with lid-lag night time exposure, and prodromal ("warning") attacks of acute glaucoma.
It's enough that you should get an examination.
(preferably book the first appointment in the morning, when there may be more to see!)
